Sunrise and Sunset

The sunrise and sunset are both without a doubt two beautiful events. These both mark a significant time of the day and both display a visual effect that makes us all stop and admire the beauty.
As I was observing the sunset, I noticed that the vibrant colors of pink, orange, red and sometimes violet are more vivid and bright at this time. What I wondered was if the colors of the sunrise look just as bright as the colors of the sunset. Or if the colors during the sunrise are the same as the sunset. On October 17th I had gotten up a little earlier then I usually wake up just to see the sunrise. The colors were as bright but it looked more as the orange sherbet ice cream. One thing that's different between the sunrise and sunset is that during the sunrise, the sky looks dark and as the sun rises up the color splashes all over the sky illuminating it like a hot air balloon would look like when it's being lit with fire. When a sunset happens, it's completely different. I could clearly see that the sky slowly gets darker as night sets upon us.

I have always wondered why the sun sets to the west and rises in the east. According to starchild.gsfc.nasa.gov, it said "Earth rotates spins toward the east, and that's why the Sun, Moon, planets, and stars all rise in the east and make their way westward across the sky. Suppose you are facing east - the planet carries you eastward as it turns, so whatever lies beyond that eastern horizon eventually comes up over the horizon and you see it." This is so interesting. I also didn't know that the stars rise east and make their way westward. This answered my question and for those wondering why or where the stars, moon and sun rise, that is the information on that.

  1. I agree that both are beautiful events that happen during the day. But if I had to choose which event is more beautiful I would choose the sun rise, only because I'm a morning person whom likes wake up in the morning and sometimes just watch the sun rise. Something knew I leaned was that stars too also rise. I just thought they stood still thousands of miles away from us and just waited for darkness to come and then light up the sky--interesting.

  2. Your pictures are so beautiful! I love your description when you described the sunset and the sunrise. My favorite line was "but it was like the orange sherbet ice cream." that got me really hungry. It is really weird how the sun works and how the earth rotates and all that stuff. I will never understand. But I'm looking forward to learn more from your blogs!

  3. I like how your pictures. I could connect to what you've seen because once in a while I go to the marina with some friends in the morning before school and we would just relax and watch the sunrise which is a beautiful view to look at.

  4. I agree with Sergio. I like the sunrise. I think it's less dramatic--for example, this morning there was one lightly pink cloud in a washed-out sky. But the subtlety was beautiful. I didn't know the stars moved--or appear to. It makes sense though.

  5. Sunsets and sunrises are both mesmerizing, but I am all for sunsets. I am thankful for the light the sun brings, but I enjoy dark and dimmed places. I love seeing the sun set as it slowly darkens everywhere I go; preparing night's terrors and bliss. You describe the sunset and sunrise so beautifully and fun at the same time, making it easy to in vision the pallets of colors both display.

  6. Both events truly are beautiful, all the different colors are gorgeous and remind me of paintings of the sun rising/setting. If only I could paint like that. My favorite Type of painting is of the sun setting over the ocean and making a reflection of the sun on the waters surface.
